Wicked Summer!

Posted on November 3, 2009 - Filed Under Shortboarding, Surftech Boards | By

I have had a wicked summer, I spent nine weeks at the British Surfing Association (BSA) house in Hossegor in France training most days with top french coach Didier Pieter, it has helped raise my surfing from strength to strength, and when I  returned to the UK I found out that I had made the initial GB squad to compete at the World junior games in New Zealand in January next year! A Great welcome home!

The panel who chose the squad reviewed the latest comp results, coupled with the early seasons results and took in to account attitude, fitness, preparation as well as other criteria, and picked me for the final team in the under 16s division. I’m very pleased that at thirteen years old I have made my second WJG after Ecuador last year, and can’t describe the feeling I had when I’d known I’d been picked for the team.

Midge Wesson from the BSA spoke about the team selection saying:

The selectors have had to make some tough decisions, but are confident that the team they are sending to New Zealand are the best possible ambassadors for British surfing, both in and out of the water, and we are looking forward to some good individual and team placings across all three divisions.

I’m confident that the team we select to take to New Zealand will be the best of the best.

Joining me in New Zealand will be fellow SurfTech riders Seb Smart and Tassy Swallow, sounds like a great decision by the GB squad selectors.

I’ve also had some great results in the last couple of weeks; I made the final of the Pro-junior event the Oakley XPY held at Fistral (under 18) and last weekend also won the VQS event held at Porthtowan for the third year in a row including winning the best manoeuvre award which included all divisions as well as the open!

I’ll keep you updated with how I get on, and enjoy these shots:
