Ollie Shilston takes 12th place at ISA World Paddleboard Championships in PeruThe distance race on Tuesday was a tough 24km slog in hot and finally foggy conditions at the end. I had a good start getting on the back of the main group. I hung in there as long as I could. In end I was pleased with 12th place and over that distance ten minutes behind the leaders isn’t to bad.
Yesterday’s technical race was so exciting with 4-5ft of surf. Again I had a good start out to the first marker getting through some big set waves on the way out. On the back way in four of us got away on a wave. For the next three laps I held on to fourth going in and out of the surf with some big sized waves coming in. Finally I got caught by Eric Terrien on the run up the beach for fifth place.
I was really pleased to make the final and I’m looking to Saturday. Nothing to loose!
