Yater

It may have taken him awhile to get to where he is today but Lauran is one of surfings most underrated shapers. Not only does he shape his own high performance designs under the Yater label but he also has perfected his own shaping of the classic retro long boards that the Yater name is now so famous for. These boards proudly have his name on them as well. It is a name synonymous with surf history, design, innovation and craftsmanship. After all, his biggest mentor is his father, Reynolds "Renny" Yater, the guy who pioneered Santa Barbara surfing in the 50's and 60's and has been at the forefront of creative surfboard design for almost fifty years.

Since the early 60's a Yater surfboard has been synonymous with quality and performance. Owning a Yater meant riding the very finest shape combined with legendary craftsmanship. These prestigious boards didn't come easy though - often limited to a select few or long wait. Reynolds and Lauran Yater are the consummate craftsmen, continually searching for the best possible way to produce their designs. A journey that started decades ago with Rennie's involvement with Hobie and urethane foams continues today with Surftech. The new Yater Advance Tech is light, responsive and available in classic or contemporary designs. The legendary performance of a Yater manufactured in Surftech's TUFLITE or Woody veneer constructions. All the heritage associated with Yater available in an equally impressive state-of-the-art epoxy construction creating the next generation of surfboard. Unreal performance, the looks of a wall hanger or show board and best of all obtainable, affordable and available at a dealer near you.
