At 6 foot 3, he was always a deceptively casual power surfer, winning both the Bells event and the Sydney Coke Surfabout back to back in 1977, putting him in the top 10. It was shortly after this that he began experimenting with the 3-fin setup which led to him winning the Pipe Masters in 1981. The thruster has since become the standard used by virtually all of the Top 44 to this day.
His many years of surfing and shaping experience have gone into the design and creation of a complete line of high-performance surfboards formulated to his exacting standards. They've been crated in Surftech's industry-leading technologies with models available in both Ultraflx and Tuflite.
"Surftech's various constructions offer a range of flex patterns unique to each technology. I've designed my new Surftech line to specifically take advantage of the flex characteristics of both the Tuflite and Ultraflx technologies.
My goal was to design a line of boards aimed at progressive surfers that will use these two constructions to enhance their surfing performance."
