Sequence

Born in 1953 in Chiba, a Mecca for surfing in Japan, Tako started surfing at sixteen and soon went around the world on surf trips to develop his skill.

He established the Sequence surfboard company in 1981 and it soon became known as the champion Japanese brand by winning six JPSA (Japan Pro Surfing Association) titles, (five in a row), with Takao Kuga and other national team riders. His success was not limited to Japan but continued internationally by winning a 1993 WCT event in Brazil with Gary Elkerton and a 1998 ISA Big Wave Contest at Todos Santos with Carlos Burle. Hawaiian, Kahea Hart and Indonesian, Made Adiputra are currently riding Sequence Surfboards world wide.

Tako has always focused on shaping the best high performance surfboards possible and has become a top name in the Japanese surf scene. Now he is the first Japanese short board shaper to collaborate with Surftech with the release of three Tuflite models in 2005. Surftech is stoked to welcome Tako & Sequence Surfboards to its growing world wide family of top surfboard shapers!
