![]() Team Riders: Tom CarrollThe Byrne Brothers phenomenon developed along with the pro surfing breakthrough. Dave glassed, Phil shaped and Critta was let loose to surf. In the late 70s their surfboard company was the base for traveling and competition. An important stop was Hawaii for inspiration and the gained knowledge was put back into the surfboards.Byrne Surfboards became world class, attracting many surfers to use them, including Shawn Thompson and Larry Bertleman. At the same time that Critta was enjoying success on the circuit, a young surfer named Tom Carroll developed a keen interest in the Byrne boards and ordered some of his own. The history is well documented and Tom went on to win two world pro titles riding Phil Byrnes shapes. Byrne is about surfing performance at the hardcore level. The name and logo are recognized around the world and are associated with the pinnacle of surfboard technology. Surftech is proud to offer the entire line of Byrne shapes in the unparalleled TUFLITE technology. ![]() 5'5" - TCMB

A state of the art performance surfboard. 6 channel boards are very fast and allow you to draw a long deep turns particularly on hollow waves. The bottom has a slight concave going into 6 deep channels through to the small fishtail.

A great small wave groveller design for bigger guys or entry level surfers. The template is wide and has a lot of volume for its size. Great in poor quality waves where getting over those dead sections is a must. Features a wider nose with little nose rocker flowing down to a concave bottom and half moon tail.

A real good performing board for the bigger surfer. Plenty of volume but not at the expense of performance. The board is fast and loose but stable because of its extra width. Will suit surfers up to 200lbs.

This is exactly what it's called. An easy to ride board for the bigger surfer. It is wide and stable has a slight concave vee bottom running into a fairly standard squashtail.
Although an excellent board for the beginner it will also perform well for the heavier surfer in most waves up to 6'. A great paddler, good for the older guy who still wants a bit of performance will suit surfers up to 220lbs. More ![]() 6'10" - Easyrider

Board Review
This is a board for serious surfing. It is a duplicate of what Tom rides when the waves are pumping.
A good travelling gun, it is suited to the fit smaller surfers (155 lbs or less) who want to charge! Aimed for 12' barrels. Great for Indo or similar locations. The board features a thin narrow nose flowing back to a tight roundtail. The bottom has a subtle concave. More |
