Team Riders: Tom Carroll
The Byrne Brothers phenomenon developed along with the pro surfing breakthrough. Dave glassed, Phil shaped and Critta was let loose to surf. In the late 70’s their surfboard company was the base for traveling and competition. An important stop was Hawaii for inspiration and the gained knowledge was put back into the surfboards.Byrne Surfboards became world class, attracting many surfers to use them, including Shawn Thompson and Larry Bertleman. At the same time that Critta was enjoying success on the circuit, a young surfer named Tom Carroll developed a keen interest in the Byrne boards and ordered some of his own.
The history is well documented and Tom went on to win two world pro titles riding Phil Byrne’s shapes.
Byrne is about surfing performance at the hardcore level. The name and logo are recognized around the world and are associated with the pinnacle of surfboard technology.
Surftech is proud to offer the entire line of Byrne shapes in the unparalleled TUFLITE

Side : M5An easy to ride "shortboard" for the bigger surfer that's wide and stable with a slight concave vee bottom running into a standard squashtail. Although an excellent board for the beginner it will also perform well for the heavier surfer looking for performance in most waves up to head-high. More info

Side : FCS GLThe Dave Byrne Longboard was developed to offer longboard surfers as much performance as possible in a low volume longboard - Incorporating short board curves and design through out the tail section to allow for easy snappy turns combined with a long fairly flat entry through the nose for nose riding.
